The Asteroid Rider was the hero’s ship in the short film, The Adventures of Dash Cloudrider, and required 3 scale versions of the same ship: 1 large (approximately 20 inches), and 2 small (roughly 8 inches each). Each version required puppeting in a different manner to achieve the desired action/shot.

The large ship’s nose and jet, and both small ships were carved from styrofoam blocks and treated with hardeners. For additional character, they were detailed with various components to decorate the hull before painting.
