about me
Having grown up in a tiny, rural town in Manitoba, there wasn’t much to do besides create my own adventures, get lost on my bike for hours, and write stories and doodle in all the moments in between.
Now I’m a multidisciplinary storyteller with deep roots in both the equestrian world and the creative arts. I’ve spent over 20 years working with horses — as a rider, showgroom, barn manager, and massage and PEMF therapist — alongside ongoing studies in biomechanics, behaviour, wellness, and equine therapies.
In parallel, I’ve pursued a lifelong love of storytelling through writing, theatre, scenic painting, and prop and puppet design. Today, I bring these threads together in my work as a writer, editor, and artist — crafting content, characters, and narratives with clarity, imagination, and heart, and with the same wonder and zest for life I had as a kid with that old bike.

Integrity is Paramount
Integrity forms the bedrock of trust between the writer and the reader. It ensures that the information presented is accurate, truthful, and reliable, allowing readers to make informed decisions and form educated views. In this internet age especially with so much at our fingertips, presenting anything as fact demands accountability. Every word I place on the page or screen is scrutinized for truth, and is well-researched and from reliable sources.
Compassion
There’s enough judgement in the world, and I feel that in the realm of education, there’s no room for it. By approaching topics with compassion, complex issues can better resonate with readers’ emotions and experiences, fostering understanding and empathy. Writing compassionately of the subject can inspire action and positive change while creating meaningful, impactful narratives that have the power to enlighten, educate, and empower.
creative writing
Fantasy and Speculative Fiction
In the realms where imagination runs wild, I revel in tales that are firmly grounded with clear character motivations and richly-crafted worlds. The reader relies on characters through which to see and experience the world, and so those characters need to feel real. Fully-fleshed characters are foundations in my works.
prop-building
Custom Props
I relish in designing and delivering creative pieces that complement the greater whole. I’m likely to ask a lot of questions about the world so that these unique, one-of-a-kind pieces can blend in organically with the environment and characters, but maintain awe-inspiring potential.
Versatility
Coming from the realm of strict and small budgets, I can often create pieces out of just about anything. Resourcefulness and problem-solving are qualities I’m known for in such creative endeavours, and I’m skilled with sewing, painting, worbla, sculpting, prop armour, prop weapons, soft puppets, models, and mechanical/cable puppets and props — to name a few.
equestrian
There’s no question that horses made me who I am, and continue to push me to grow and be the best version of myself I can be. I deeply value the connections and relationships that form between horse and human, and believe that those bonds start on the ground.
Training
Although my passions are classical dressage and liberty, I have experience and undergone training in a wide range of activities including including hunter, mounted games, renaissance games, and cross-country.
Helping Horses
Every horse has a voice, and equine behavioural science is an evolving field I avidly follow. Since I fell in love with dressage as a teen, I also grew deeply fascinated with biomechanics and muscles of movement. I devour books on these subjects, and in 2015 decided to gain certifications in both equine massage and (human) personal training. I continue to have an insatiable appetite for learning.
In 2023 I took the plunge into PEMF therapy, and have since taken courses on saddle fit, additional myofascial release, and nutrition to continue growing with the ever evolving needs of the horses in my life.
