This animated pile of trash was the moveable armature for the caterpillar in a community theatre production of The Looking Glass, a retelling of Alice in Wonderland.
With very little budget, I was fortunate to have accumulated suitable materials second-hand that were more than satisfactory for the job. The yarn pulleys, shown in this test run, were replaced with cables with proper handles.
The “skin” was then added by the costume department to tie onto the performer. The puppeteer, meanwhile, got to hide in a toadstool.
